Showcase Video - 2018This project was requested by our school's administration as a way to promote the school to potential incoming freshmen, to be shown for educational purposes only, not publication. With this production I planned out each individual shot, distributed instructions to the entire broadcasting staff, directed each shot, and assisted each individual student in creating this video from start to finish. While not only being one of my favorite projects to date, I was able to lead my fellow classmates in a fun, creative, and rewarding project that our school will be able to use for years to come.

Drama Free Work Space The journalism program draws students from all areas and interests across the school. To make sure our publications run efficiently, and that our staffs enjoy their time, we focus on group effort and bonding.
While I take on multiple leadership roles, I am able to set myself apart form the staff when needed but also take part in group activities with ease. Within the yearbook we make sure to group students together based upon experience and work ethic, often pairing experienced members with newer members so they can learn and teach one another. I make sure to oversee all projects and make sure the groups are enjoying their work and partnerships. Broadcasting projects usually take three members for filming, reporting, and editing. In these areas I make sure that my group shares the work and not force an individual to take on the burden of assembling a package on their own. At times, however, larger projects such as our Showcase video, which was shown to prospective 8th grade students and their parents, require me to direct the entire staff. I had to direct groups for filming individual shots and assembling the final product on my own. The newspaper take the most amount of leadership as I need to make sure every reporter is finishing their work on time, having that work be up to publishing standards, and delegating design, photography, and story assignments. Along with making sure our publications are completed by all staff members, I also make sure that we have fun. We go on ghost hunting trips after school hours as staff and report on them. We set up jump-scares for one another. We celebrate all holidays and staff birthdays with class parties. We celebrate as much as possible, and applaud our successes as much as possible. |
